Why am I tired all the time?

I am tired all the time lately, my doc gave me iron tablets, i dont remember to take them all the time. when I take them It doesnt seem like they work. My doc said if it continues i will need a blood test. Could it be that I am severly anemic? and should I try another iron tablet?
