Iphone shattered screen?!?

My iphone slipped off my lap and face planted from 2 feet or less up. its all spiderwebbed but theres no imprint from a direct hit. the touch screen works as well as it did before, except that its all cracked. ive had this phone since december, and didnt purchase insurance (i should have) is there any way to fix it ?! can i send it back to apple, or would that cost more then the actual phone to begin with? its an original iphone 3g 16 gb. HELP PLEASEE ! anything i can do ? thanksssssss
